Sited in the conservation area of the Wolds village of Hutton Cranswick, this contemporary extension & remodelling project provided a place for the life of the clients family whilst accommodating their large collection of Victorian arts & crafts paintings in a bespoke gallery wing.

The existing house was reorganised around a new custom staircase at the join between the family home and the gallery. The family art collection was housed in a double-height space to accommodate their many oversized paintings. The gallery was faced in York handmade bricks & lit through clerestory and full-height windows, dissolving the barrier between home and garden.
